Royal Mail Mailsort services are to be renamed Business Mail. Not just a cosmetic change; mail delivery times are also being reduced. As an example, Mailsort 3 has a current delivery time of between 4 and 7 working days following despatch. Renamed as "economy" mail, Royal Mail are changing this target to within 4 working days following despatch of the mailshot.

Changes to be phased in from April.

Royal Mail "Advertising Mail" now provides postage savings beyond standard Mailsort services for qualifying mailings.
If you mailshot is purely to generate sales, e.g. a sales letter and brochure and does not contain further communications such as statement of account, your mailout may well qualify.

To quote Royal Mail...
"
Advertising Mail mailings must comprise 100% of advertising items, which is defined as a mailing comprising largely uniform message to all addressees, with the purpose of promoting the sale or use of products or services, or to encourage contribution to, or support of, a cause."
